5-day Etosha and Damaraland Safari

Day 1: Windhoek to Etosha – Into the Wildlife Plains

Depart from Windhoek in the morning and travel north toward Etosha National Park. The journey crosses Namibia’s central highlands before reaching the expansive savannah surrounding the park.

After check-in and lunch at your lodge near the park entrance, enjoy your first afternoon game drive. Wildlife gathers around waterholes, where elephants, giraffes, springbok, and zebra drink in close proximity. The open terrain provides excellent visibility, making sightings rewarding from the start.

As the sun lowers, the pale salt pan glows against the golden grasslands.

Day 2: Full Day Safari in Etosha National Park

An early morning departure places you at active waterholes before temperatures rise. Lions often rest near shaded areas after night hunts, while black rhino may appear cautiously at quieter watering points.

Throughout the day, you explore different sections of the park. The vast Etosha salt pan dominates the horizon, creating a surreal landscape that contrasts with clusters of wildlife at water sources.

The afternoon drive offers continued sightings as herds move between feeding grounds and waterholes.

Day 3: Etosha to Damaraland – Changing Landscapes

After a morning game drive and breakfast, depart for Damaraland. The scenery gradually shifts from open plains to rocky outcrops, granite hills, and dry riverbeds.

Damaraland’s terrain feels more remote and dramatic. In the afternoon, explore areas near the Aba Huab or Huab river systems where desert-adapted elephants move between water sources.

The contrast between Etosha’s flat salt pan and Damaraland’s rugged mountains highlights Namibia’s diversity.

Day 4: Desert Wildlife & Twyfelfontein Exploration

Later, visit Twyfelfontein, home to one of Africa’s largest collections of ancient rock engravings created thousands of years ago by San communities. The site offers insight into early human life in this harsh landscape.

The afternoon allows time to absorb Damaraland’s vast silence and dramatic mountain scenery before returning to camp for sunset.
