5 Days – Amboseli and Tsavo Safari
Southern Kenya offers a dramatic safari contrast between the open plains of Amboseli National Park and the vast, rugged wilderness of Tsavo East National Park and Tsavo West National Park. Amboseli is world-renowned for its large elephant herds set against the snow-capped backdrop of Mount Kilimanjaro, while Tsavo’s red-earth terrain, lava flows, and acacia woodlands create one of Kenya’s most expansive safari landscapes.
This 5-day Amboseli and Tsavo Safari combines close-up elephant encounters, dramatic scenery, and classic Big Five tracking across varied ecosystems.

Day-by-Day Details Of the 5 Days – Amboseli and Tsavo Safari
Day 1: Nairobi to Amboseli – Kilimanjaro Views
Depart from Nairobi in the morning and drive south toward Amboseli National Park. As you approach the park, Mount Kilimanjaro rises dramatically on the horizon, weather permitting.
After check-in and lunch at your lodge, head out for an afternoon game drive. Amboseli’s open terrain allows excellent visibility. Elephant families move across the plains, often framed by Kilimanjaro’s snow-covered peak. Buffalo, zebra, giraffe, and lion are commonly encountered.
The late afternoon light creates exceptional photographic conditions across the swamp-fed grasslands.

Day 2: Full Day in Amboseli National Park
An early morning game drive offers the clearest mountain views before cloud cover builds. Lions patrol open plains while elephants move steadily between feeding grounds and swamp areas. Amboseli’s permanent water sources attract wildlife year-round.
After returning for lunch and short rest, the afternoon drive explores different sectors of the park, including Observation Hill, which offers panoramic views across the entire ecosystem.
The day ends with sunset over Kilimanjaro’s silhouette.

Day 3: Amboseli to Tsavo West – Lava Landscapes
After breakfast, depart for Tsavo West National Park. The terrain shifts noticeably, with volcanic hills, lava flows, and dense bush creating a more rugged landscape.
After arrival and lunch, explore the park on an afternoon game drive. Visit Mzima Springs, where crystal-clear pools fed by underground streams attract hippos and crocodiles. Tsavo West supports leopard, lion, elephant, and a wide variety of birdlife.
The scenery here feels wilder and more dramatic compared to Amboseli’s open plains.
Overnight Stay: Severin Safari Camp / Kilaguni Serena Safari Lodge
Meal Plan: Full Board
Day 4: Tsavo West to Tsavo East – The Land of Red Elephants
After a morning drive in Tsavo West, continue toward Tsavo East National Park. Tsavo East is known for its red-dust elephants, colored by the park’s iron-rich soil.
The vast open spaces allow wide-ranging wildlife sightings. Lions, often referred to as the “Man-Eaters of Tsavo” in historical accounts, inhabit this region along with large buffalo herds and antelope species.
Afternoon game drives focus on the Galana River area, where animals gather near water sources.
Overnight Stay: Satao Camp / Ashnil Aruba Lodge
Meal Plan: Full Board
Day 5: Morning Safari – Return to Nairobi
An early morning game drive offers one last opportunity to experience Tsavo’s vast wilderness. Elephant herds move across open plains, and predators may still be active in the cooler hours.
